EV perks in Nova Scotia (2026)
What Nova Scotia and the federal government give you for driving an electric vehicle: purchase rebates, programs that pay you to charge at home, road privileges, the cheapest electricity plan for overnight charging, and any fees that come with it. Purchase rebates
The federal EVAP incentive gives $5,000 on a new battery EV and $2,500 on a plug-in hybrid, until March 31, 2031 or while funds last ($50,000 final transaction value price cap). Nova Scotia's own rebate (Electrify Nova Scotia) has ended (April 30, 2025), so the federal amount is the total.

Electricity rates for charging
Nova Scotia Power's default residential plan, Standard residential (domestic) service, charges 19.13¢/kWh (energy only). The Time-of-Day rate plan plan drops overnight charging to 12.44¢/kWh (11pm–7am (off-peak)) – at 300 kWh a month that saves about $241 a year. Rates effective May 1, 2026.
Annual EV fee
Nova Scotia charges no annual EV fee.
