SWTCH Home Charging Program: get paid 3–11¢ per kWh to charge your EV at home

SWTCH Home Charging Program is run by SWTCH Energy and is available across Canada. It earns carbon credits under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations when you charge at home on a connected charger, and passes 3–11¢ per kWh back to you, paid when balance reaches $100. At 300 kWh of home charging a month that is roughly $396 a year once past any starting tier ($276 in the first year). Caveats

  • FAQ: you earn the 3¢ starting rate while working toward the 1,500 kWh deposit refund; payouts by direct deposit once $100 accrues; no annual or subscription fees.
  • FAQ: the charger is locked to the SWTCH program network and cannot be moved to another OCPP network; it needs internet to operate.
  • No Level 1 (120 V) option; installation is on you (electrician needed for the hardwired model).
  • Members report the app lacks scheduled charging and in-app current adjustment; frequently back-ordered.
  • Lifetime warranty only while SWTCH participates in carbon-credit programs; otherwise 2 years.
