EV perks in Quebec (2026)
What Quebec and the federal government give you for driving an electric vehicle: purchase rebates, programs that pay you to charge at home, road privileges, the cheapest electricity plan for overnight charging, and any fees that come with it. Purchase rebates
The federal EVAP incentive gives $5,000 on a new battery EV and $2,500 on a plug-in hybrid, until March 31, 2031 or while funds last ($50,000 final transaction value price cap). Quebec adds $2,000 (BEV) / $1,000 (PHEV) and $1,000 on a used BEV through Roulez vert, ending December 31, 2026 (MSRP under $65,000), for up to $7,000 stacked on a new battery EV. A $600 home-charger rebate is also available: Home 240 V charger, Roulez vert.

HOV lanes, tolls and road perks
The green plate gives access to many reserved lanes regardless of occupancy (through 2026), and free A25/A30 toll bridges and STQ ferries until April 1 2027, when the 2025-26 budget ends them. What you need: Green licence plate issued by the SAAQ when registering an all-electric, plug-in hybrid or hydrogen vehicle. These privileges are currently set to end on December 31, 2026.
Electricity rates for charging
Hydro-Québec's default residential plan, Rate D, charges 7.07¢/kWh at its cheapest (energy only). The Rate Flex D (winter dynamic pricing) plan drops overnight charging to 4.89¢/kWh (Dec 1 – Mar 31, outside peak-demand events) – at 300 kWh a month that saves about $78 a year. Rates effective April 1, 2026.
Annual EV fee
Quebec will charge $125 a year on battery EVs and $63 on plug-in hybrids from January 1, 2027. Electric vehicles ($125) and plug-in hybrids ($62.50), indexed annually.
