GreenMiles: get paid 10–16¢ per kWh to charge your EV at home

GreenMiles is run by Pion Power (Polaron Solar) and is available across Canada. It earns carbon credits under Canada's Clean Fuel Regulations when you charge at home on a connected charger, and passes 10–16¢ per kWh back to you, paid annual (calendar year). At 300 kWh of home charging a month that is roughly $492 a year once past any starting tier ($360 in the first year). 1 point per kWh, worth 10 cents; 1,000 points = $100, paid in the annual payout period. Balances under 1,000 points carry over.

Caveats

  • Terms: rewards are credited only after the carbon credits are verified and approved by the regulator; the $100/MWh value is reviewed annually and may go up or down.
  • Charger must stay on Wi-Fi and transmitting; rewards are non-transferable.
  • The 16¢ "Thanksgiving" bonus appears on the program page but not (yet) in the terms.
  • Charger is a purchase, not a loan - you own it outright and there is no deposit or membership.
