EV perks in Northwest Territories (2026)

Purchase rebates
The federal EVAP incentive gives $5,000 on a new battery EV and $2,500 on a plug-in hybrid, until March 31, 2031 or while funds last ($50,000 final transaction value price cap). Northwest Territories adds $5,000 (BEV) / $5,000 (PHEV) through AEA Electric Vehicle Rebate, for up to $10,000 stacked on a new battery EV. A $500 home-charger rebate is also available: Level 2 home charger (AEA).

Electricity rates for charging
Northwest Territories Power Corporation's default residential plan, Residential (first 1,000 kWh/month, subsidized), charges 36.5¢/kWh (energy only). There is no EV or overnight plan, so 36.5¢/kWh is what home charging costs. Rates effective September 1, 2026.
Annual EV fee
Northwest Territories charges no annual EV fee.
